Cordova/A total of 12 taverns of Córdoba will finally wear the seal of Historical for having more than 75 years of gastronomic activity in the city, preserving the flavors of the city in its menu and the aesthetics of a typical Cordoban tavern over the years. The City Council has made public the final list of the establishments that will have the plaque on their façade and that will be able to count on special aid for the preservation of their activity and their protection.

The deputy mayor delegate for Economy and Finance, Blanca Torrent, has detailed that of the 15 taverns that could qualify for the seal, there will finally be 12 that can show it off. The goal, however, is that expand over time because more taverns are interested or meet the requirements.

Among the documentation that the taverns have presented to obtain the distinction, in addition to certifying the years of uninterrupted service, a wide variety of old documents, newspaper clippings and magazines with curious stories, including fights or robberies. The Municipal Archive of Córdoba has also contributed information to a file that has about 600 pages.

Thus, the distinguished taverns are Bodegas Campos (Calle Lineros, 32), Regina (Plaza de Regina), El Pisto (Plaza de San Miguel, 1), Taberna Séneca (Plaza de Séneca, 4), El Abuelo (Cruz Conde, 3 ), Sociedad Plateros María Auxiliadora Restaurant (25 María Auxiliadora Street), San Francisco Plateros Society (6 San Francisco Street), Casa Pepe de La Judería (1 Romero Street), Casa Rubio, Santa Marina (Mayor Street in Santa Marina, 1), La Fuenseca (Juan Rufo Street, 20), Salinas (Tundidores Street, 3). Furthermore, Salinas and El Pisto are about to be centenary.

The call to obtain the distinction of Historical Tavern of Córdoba remains open. They ask to demonstrate 75 years of service, the connection with typical Córdoba gastronomy and the preservation of furniture and decoration, artistic, economic and social material aspects that make them look like a typical tavern of the city. The badge includes a QR code with the route through all the establishments and the possibility of benefiting from special aid launched by the City Council.

The City Council studies distinguishing all the taverns of Córdoba

Seeing the success that this project has had, the Córdoba City Council is looking for a formula to distinguish more taverns, in general, distributed throughout the city. “A new program for Cordoba taverns has been proposed and the idea is that the Chair of Gastronomy develops a report that allows for the development of an important program for all the taverns and that we do not stop at these 12.” It will be an independent program because “we have Cordoban taverns that deserve recognition,” said Torrent, who was convinced that the initiative “will strengthen our identity and the taverns will be another tourist attraction.”
