The commitment to the recovery of infrastructure that has been in detriment and institutional abandonment for many years was reaffirmed by the governor of La Guajira, Jairo Aguilar Deluqueafter a tour of the unfinished works of the municipality of San Juan del Cesar.
It is through the ‘Colombia Commitment’ strategy, of the Comptroller General of the Republic, that the president seeks to execute these works in their entirety to transform the so-called ‘white elephants’ into functional and beneficial structures for the community.
The works visited by the governor in the company of the mayor of the municipality, Enrique Camilo Urbina Suárez, They began to be executed in 2009, to build the Transit Terminal and the Public Market in the southern municipality of San Juan del Cesar.
Likewise, the leaders were at the Coliseum and the Enrique Brito municipal stadium, which, despite their deterioration, are used by the population to practice sports such as soccer. “It is essential that these infrastructures become poles of economic development and adequate and comfortable settings for practicing sports.”highlighted Governor Aguilar Deluque.
“Our goal is to give life and functionality to these places, transforming them into valuable assets for our community and putting an end to so many years of neglect that are evident in each one.”he added.
With the reactivation of these works, the department’s infrastructure will not only be improved, but it will also seek to boost the local economy and offer adequate spaces for carrying out sports and commercial activities.
