New edition of the Córdoba Tourist Photography Contest: promoting beauty and tradition – News in the Province

The Provincial Council of Córdoba, through the Provincial Tourism Board, has announced the call for the second edition of its tourist photography contest. This event seeks to promote and disseminate the monumental, cultural, natural and landscape values, as well as the festivals and traditions of the Córdoba municipalities. An important novelty in this edition is the inclusion of a category for short videos, intended to capture the essence of the province in a dynamic and creative format.

The contest is designed to attract citizen participation, encouraging them to capture and share the diversity and richness of Córdoba. The new category of short videos, which must have a maximum duration of 60 seconds, allows for greater interaction with social networks, expanding the reach of the initiative and attracting a broader and more diverse audience. In addition, the ‘Gastronomy and tourist experiences’ category has been added to the photography section.

This new category joins the existing ‘Cultural, heritage and festivals and traditions’ and ‘Natural and landscape’ categories, providing a platform to showcase the vibrant culinary scene and the unique experiences that can be enjoyed in the province. Each participant can submit up to three photographs and two short videos, with the option of entering the same image in two different categories. This flexibility allows contestants to explore and express multiple aspects of Córdoba life and landscape.

Competition Objectives

The main objective of this activity is to contribute to the dissemination of the tourist resources of the municipalities of Córdoba, offering the opportunity to discover new enclaves, corners and traditions. Through this initiative, the aim is to promote local tourism and the flow of visitors both from the capital to the province and from other regions. By involving citizens, local knowledge is valued and the importance of each town in the cultural and natural wealth of Córdoba is highlighted.

The success of the first edition, with a total of 336 photographs submitted, is a testament to the interest and participation that this contest has generated. The most popular categories included ‘Monumental and Cultural’ with 144 photographs, ‘Natural and Landscape’ with 113, and ‘Festivals and Traditions’ with 79.

Competition rules

The contest rules specify that the photographs submitted must not have been awarded in other contests. The photographic technique is free and both color and digital photographs are accepted. Digital editing is allowed, but manipulation that eliminates or adds elements foreign to the original image is not allowed. Images must be sent in ‘jpeg’ format for evaluation by the jury.

The contest offers a total of 30 prizes: nine in photography, five in video and seven second prizes for regional photographic recognition. For the photography category, the prizes are 1,500 euros for first place, 1,000 euros for second and 650 euros for third. In addition, second prizes corresponding to the seven provincial regions will be awarded, each with a financial prize.

In the short video category, the prizes are 1,200 euros for first place, 700 euros for second, 350 euros for third and two second prizes of 150 euros each.

Participation Process

Applications may be submitted from the day following the publication of the contest in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) until August 31 inclusive. Participants can register their works in the General Registry of the Córdoba Tourism Board or through the Electronic Registry of the same organization.

This contest not only celebrates the beauty and diversity of Córdoba, but also involves the community in the promotion and preservation of its heritage. With the inclusion of new categories and the opening to modern formats, this second edition is expected to achieve even greater success, encouraging more people to participate and share their unique vision of the province.
