An anti-bullfighting movement This Tuesday, the sculpture of Colombian bullfighter César Rincón was demolishedone of the greatest representatives of bullfighting in the world.

The monument was located on the outskirts of the Duitama bullring, in Boyacá.

The activity was led by the animal rights senator Esmeralda Hernández, the director of the Administrative Department for Social Prosperity, Gustavo Bolívar, and the mayor of Duitama, José Luis Bohórquezbelonging to the Historical Pact.

“We have announced a call that will allow the mayors of all the municipalities in the country that have bullrings to access resources to convert these venues. The spaces that were previously for torture, for pain and for the blood of animals, will be converted into spaces for peasant markets, to energize rural economies, popular economies,” said Senator Hernández.

According to the congresswoman, the idea is to transform all the bullrings in the country into cultural, artistic spaces and development centers for the promotion of peasant markets.

Regarding the statue of César Rincón, he said that it will be moved to an undetermined location where the country’s bullfighting memory can be preserved.
