During the celebration, an investment of more than 5,000 million pesos from the Government was announced to adapt the central auditorium of the Sogamoso Section.

By Agreement June 4, 1974, the Public Accounting program was created in the Sogamoso Section of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC), which this Tuesday, June 25, celebrated its 50 years of work.

During the ceremony commemorating the golden anniversary of this program, the rector of the UPTC, Enrique Vera López, stated that it has been five decades of academic excellence and commitment to the training of high-quality professionals.

“From these classrooms we have seen many young people grow up, who have entrusted their dreams to a quality institution such as UPTC. I extend my congratulations highlighting the pride of being part of this team, remembering that we are going to accompany and bring our knowledge and work to the regions; Congratulations to those who have contributed to the construction of this program and its strengthening,” said Vera López.

At these golden anniversary, special recognitions were given to teachers and officials who have dedicated their professional lives to the teaching and administration of the program, as well as to outstanding graduates, such as María Anayme Barón Durán, general auditor of the Republic; Verónica Sepúlveda Serrano, director of the DIAN Sogamoso; Sara Lorena Vega Flórez, Chief of Staff of the Government of Boyacá, and Jaime Raúl Salamanca, representative to the Chamber.

The former UPTC rector Carlos Alberto Sandoval Fonseca was also praised for participating in the creation of the Public Accounting program.

Various activities were also carried out during the celebration, including a conference on auditing, given by María Anayme Barón Durán.

“We are excited to receive the news from Sara Lorena Vega Flórez, representative of the departmental Government, who announced a significant investment of more than 5,000 million pesos for the adaptation of the Central Auditorium of the Section,” stated the director of the School of Public Accounting of UPTC, John Danilo Pedraza López.

Municipal councils, the mayors of Paipa and Sogamoso, the Departmental Assembly, the Government of Boyacá, the Chamber of Representatives and the General Auditor’s Office of the Republic each presented decorations to the School of Public Accounting, in recognition of its career and contribution to the strengthening of the region.

The formal event was also attended by the Academic Vice-Rector, Ruth Maribel Forero Castro; the Administrative and Financial Vice-Rector, Luis Ángel Lara; the Comptroller of Boyacá, Juan Pablo Camargo Gómez; the Mayor of Paipa, Germán Ricardo Camacho; officials of the Chamber of Commerce of Sogamoso, directors of the Sectional, teachers and students.
