In almost all the establishments visited you can see promotions with oil as the protagonist. Most of them present the price per liter above 12 or 13 euros and offer the customer the possibility of purchasing three units, paying just over 8 euros for the last one. When taking the average, it can be seen that the price of each liter remains above 9 euros in most cases.

The other way for the customer to save something when purchasing extra virgin olive oil (or any other modality) is through five liter jugs, which always means cutting a few cents per liter compared to the same brand sold in liter bottles.

White Labels

It so happens that with some of these promotions, if the customer investigates them, they will be able to purchase extra virgin at a better price than virgin or refined olive oil. There are many businesses that have the latter also above or very close to 8 euros. In almost all businesses, the oil that has the best price is usually the own brand or white label with which the chain works.

The most expensive oil, by far, remains the ecological, which is not found in all establishments and where it is, the price is quite high.

Another alternative to acquire, today, slightly less expensive oil is to go to the oil mills or cooperatives of the province, where it is usually only extra virgin olive oil that is sold and the cost is also somewhat lower.

Another of the strategies that some brands have undertaken to continue offering their product at an apparently more affordable price is to present three-quarter containers, whose size is very similar to that of the liter, but its cost makes less of an impression on the buyer.

In the case of organic oil, the Businesses turn to half-liter containers and, in many cases, with presentations that make them somewhat more attractive to the client.
