Summit of the governors of Santa Fe, Córdoba and Entre Ríos

The governors Maximiliano Pullaro, Rogelio Frigerio and Martín Llaryora will meet in Santa Fe in a show of political force to demand from the government of Javier Milei the payment of the pension funds owed by the Anses and the restitution of the monthly advances due to deficit of the funds. provincial. Accompanied by legislators from Santa Fe, Córdoba and Entre Ríos, the leaders will sign a document that formalizes their demands.

The meeting of the governors of the Central Region has generated various interpretations in the political sphere. After the negotiation of the Bases Law, which allowed Santa Fe to ensure the reactivation of at least 10% of the 189 works paralyzed by the Nation, the governors now focus their attention on pension funds.

Some observers consider this action as a strategy to differentiate themselves from the Milei government, whom they helped with the Bases Law. However, the claim for provincial resources is genuine and prior to Milei’s inauguration.

Last September, the former governor of Santa Fe, Omar Perotti, filed a lawsuit before the Supreme Court against the national State for non-payment of the Retirement Fund’s deficits. The situation has worsened with Milei, who through a DNU eliminated the advances that were sent to the provinces.

Governors Llaryora, Frigerio and Pullaro highlight that the non-payment of the national State has increased the deficits of the provincial funds, which demand more and more resources to pay retirements and pensions. In Santa Fe, this deficit amounts to 30 billion pesos per month, according to official sources.

Each province has addressed the pension crisis in different ways. Llaryora, for example, modified contribution percentages and other variables by decree to reduce the deficit. In contrast, Santa Fe has chosen to open an analysis commission in the Legislature, with the aim of implementing a pension reform before the end of the year. The proposals include increasing contributions, extending the retirement age and a cap on the highest pensions.

The meeting of the governors will be held at 11 a.m. at the Government House, with Pullaro as host. The Central Region, revitalized under the current leaders, is presented as a crucial tool to promote integration and solve common problems, especially in light of the withdrawal of the national State.

On this occasion, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Entre Ríos will seek to agree on a joint strategy to claim the pension debt that the national State has accumulated with these provinces.
