This agreement was made taking into account that the north of Antioquia has been a pioneer in electricity generation and impactful projects have been carried out for the region and the rest of the country. For this, The leaders of 13 municipalities of the department recognized the need to implement technical, financial and planning legal instruments that can allow sustainable development.
Briceño, Ituango, San Andrés de Cuerquia, Toledo, Valdivia, Yarumal, Angostura, Campamento, Carolina del Príncipe, Gómez Plata, Guadalupe, San José de la Montaña and Anorí, These are the municipalities that signed a voluntary agreement to commit to achieving inter-institutional integration in favor of the creation of the Bioenergetic Province of Northern Antioquia.
Cristian Céspedes, mayor of Yarumal and spokesperson for the agreement, expressed the importance this would have for the region: “Being able to be part of the great development agendas of the department, the nation, of the search for international cooperation resources so that it can present regional projects for royalties and many other sources of financing. It is very important because with this gesture we, the mayors of these thirteen municipalities, reiterate that we are united to seek to manage solutions to the needs of our territory and our communities.”

With this, the mayors sign in the agreement the formation of a territorial associative scheme under the figure of administrative and planning province.
Among the commitments that were acquired is socialize and manage the initiative as long as requirements can be met established in the regulations.
In addition, the Government of Antioquia must act as an articulator of the process, accompanying the exercise of dialogue and agreement around the potential of the territory, promoting comprehensive development and equity thereof.
