This Saturday the 29th, the religious festival of San Pedro will be celebrated, a tradition that has been going on for years and brings together fishermen around the figure of their patron saint and disciple of Jesus Christ.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Aysén calls on the faithful of the coastal area of the region to hold several celebrations, several of them to take place from Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th, the day of the religious festival.
In Puerto Aysén and Puerto Chacabuco there will be several activities and a large presence of faithful is expected. On Saturday the 29th, a mass will be held at 11 a.m. in the San Pedro community and then a procession will take place along the Aysén River.
Later, a mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Puerto Chacabuco with the traditional procession through the sea. This is an activity organized by the fishermen’s union with the support of the Christian community.
All Eucharistic celebrations will be accompanied by the parish priest José Vera of Puerto Aysén.
Other locations
Always in the province of Aysén, on the Huichas islands, the celebrations will take place this Friday the 28th in the town of Puerto Aguirre with a celebration in the gym. On Saturday the 29th there will be mass at 11 a.m. in the chapel and then there will be the changing of the mantle and the procession along the sea.
After the procession there will be a fraternal sharing at the Estrella del Mar Parish. All celebrations will be accompanied by deacon Héctor Nauto.
In the province of Cisnes, on Saturday the 29th there will be a mass at 11 a.m. in Puyuhuapi and in which children will be baptized and then carry out the procession with the image of San Pedro through the Queulat fjord and end with a community sharing .
In La Junta, meanwhile, mass will be held starting at 6 p.m.
On Sunday the 30th, in Raúl Marín Balmaceda, a mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., while in Lago Verde the mass will be at 4 p.m. All Eucharistic celebrations will be accompanied by Father Jairo.
