Less than a month until the official opening of Paris 2024, Argentine athletes continue preparing to reach the Games in the best way. The team of horse riding is no exception and this Friday the 28th he will contest the Nations Cup in Prague, Czech Republic, a competition that will serve to define the pairing that will compete in the Olympic event in the French capital.
Jose Maria Laroccarecently winner of a test in the CHIO Rotterdam 5*will lead the team, which will also include four other talented riders: Damian Ancictwo-time national champion and member of the team that competed in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games; Mariano Ossa and Matias Laroccawho have already achieved two second places in Nations Cup; and Kelly Collardbovyamazon selected for the first time in the national team.
This Thursday, Vitor Alves Teixeiranational coach, and Raúl Ferreyra Bochateteam leader, will announce which of those five riders will compete in Prague and what will be the substitute pairing.
The Argentine team played from June 12 to 16 the Nations Cup of the Official Jumping Competition (CSIO 4*) in Sopot, Poland, in which he finished 12th with a formation made up of Ancic, both Larocca and Ossa.
Argentines live decisive hours on the way to Paris. Next week the Argentine Equestrian Federation will officially announce which athlete will compete in the French capital in the individual jumping event, the most important of the Olympic equestrian program.
The place for that competition was obtained by José María Larocca by finishing eighth in the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. We will have to wait to confirm if it will be him, a four-time Olympian (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020), who will use the plaza.
The light blue and white riding had also obtained two other places for the individual complete event. One was lost because the national rider failed to qualify.
