One month before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the VI National Sports Forum LIDE Argentina “Argentina at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games” was held, organized by this company, the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) and the Paralympic Committee Argentine (COPAR).
Rodolfo of Philippresident of LIDE Argentina, opened the event and said: “In the month of the flag we honor those who preceded us in the construction of our beloved Argentina. The City of Light is preparing to receive athletes from all over the world, they will host in body and spirit those who work for a long time to provide the best conditions to the athletes, the organizations and all the companies that support them.”
The Forum analyzed the Olympic values and their impact on the corporate world, while highlighting the concepts of integration, cooperation and teamwork. These values inherent to sport can inspire and transform business strategies, creating a lasting legacy in both the sporting and corporate spheres.
In the first block titled “Sports and Business, a positive relationship”, participated Mariano BoCEO of Saint Gobain Group; Augustin Melanopresident of ID Argentina – Le Coq Sportif, and María Inés Del GennerCEO of Deloitte Marketplace Southern Cone.
Next, the French ambassador to Argentina Romain Nadal He took the floor and said: “ANDIn this sixth edition of the National Sports Forum we are going to talk about a topic as exciting and relevant as sport and its connection with the business world, especially in the context of the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, since these represent an unmatched platform for companies globally. “They are not only a sporting competition but also a showcase that allows brands to connect with a global audience. Companies can show their commitment to the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship, thus strengthening their presence in the international market.”
The turn of “Integration is more than inclusion” a panel made up of the president of the Argentine Olympic Committee and head of LIDE Deporte, Mario Mocciathe president of the Argentine Paralympic Committee, Jose Maria Valladares and their respective heads of mission Carlos Ferrea of the Olympic and Alejandro Perez of the Paralympic.
Mario Moccia highlighted: “The COA and COPAR celebrate a cooperation and joint work agreement, we are very interconnected, because we believe that sport is one and that we have to manage it together, each with its own particularities. As a result of that, we have decided to launch a project that we believe is very important, which is the Argentine High Performance Games for next year. We are convinced that integrating is more important than including, beyond the fact that inclusion is fundamental, we must work together”.
Regarding the Olympic delegation, he commented that “Some sports are subject to generational change and in other disciplines we have many expectations, such as rugby sevens, which leads the ranking and we understand that it will be the protagonist; hockey, which is always the protagonist with the Leonas, with the Leones, football that we aspire to have a very representative team, volleyball that is always fighting and sailing that with Majdalani and Bosco we have the best prospects. But there are also other athletes who will surely be in the fight to improve their positions.”
For its part, Valladares He stressed: “We as a parent sports entity that brings together 25 other Paralympic sports federations want to adopt and innovate based on management criteria so that the message given by the Paralympic athlete is transmitted in the correct way and that suddenly the private business sector, “Not only the public part that always accompanied joins because there is feedback since in its essence it transmits values that are universal for the community.”
“Values for the construction of legends” was the name of the section made up of the Olympic champions Cecilia Carranza Saroli (candle) and Walter Perez (cycling); Paralympic medalists Constance Garrone (table tennis) and Hernan Barreto (athletics) and featured María Julia Garisoain as a model.
Carranza Saroli He reflected: “LIDE brings together the leaders of the largest companies in Argentina and the Olympic and Paralympic Committee brings together the great leaders of Argentine sport. Paris 2024 is going to bring together the great leaders of world sport and, what we have in common, is that we have developed an ability to be totally inventive and be able to be there.”.
The Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the Nation Daniel Scioli He was present and noted: “It is important for me to congratulate LIDE Argentina for stimulating social and corporate responsibility and for encouraging much-needed private interventions. to support the great talent of our high-performance athletes and also, obviously, everything that is at the base of sport, which is social sport”.
Regarding teamwork, the COA president explained that “to work as a team you have to get rid of a lot of personal issues and that is difficult, since there is a society that always emphasizes individualism. I think this is one of the secrets of sport, When one learns to put aside personal interests for the common good and work together with others for the goal of all, “Where there is also a personal objective, we go further, it takes longer, but we achieve important results. And this is the theme of this meeting: We are going to Paris, we are going to the Olympic Games, it is a great mobilizing axis, but it is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to work together in sport and business.”
