A technical table was developed in the Government of Cesar, which was led by Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila, in which mayors from the center and north of the department participated, in order to prioritize investment projects in their municipalities.

Among the participants were the leaders of Astrea, Chimichagua, Manaure, Pueblo Bello, Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, Bosconia, San Diego, Chiriguaná, Curumaní, El Paso, La Jagua de Ibirico, La Paz, Tamalameque and El Copey, who presented the most pressing needs of each territory to the head of the Departmental Planning Office, Luis Camilio Cerchiario.

Among the proposed projects were tertiary roads, urban pavements, aqueducts, sewers, hospitals, sports venues, parks and event plazas, which will be prioritized in the departmental development plan.

“We are prioritizing what is urgent, what is necessary to be able to leverage resources not only from the department and the municipalities, but from the national level, in order to cover the major deficiencies and guarantee the social development of Cesar,” said Governor Sanjuán Dávila.

For his part, the mayor of Chiriguaná, José Carmelo Galiano, indicated that, “We have implemented as a first step what the ring road within the urban area aims to do, connecting to what was always the port, where the development of our town began many years ago; we are going to rescue that and the governor has promised to accompany us in this initiative that we have and that we want to build together with the departmental government,” he said.

In turn, the mayor of Curumaní, Hermes Martínez, stated that it is important that the departmental administration prioritize the construction of a new hospital for the municipality, as well as investments in the district of San Roque, which has around 7,000 inhabitants who need to develop urbanistically and commercially, “also in our capital projects such as a plaza-park in the San Isidro neighborhood, urban paving and sewer replacement.”
