A tractor-trailer, loaded to its maximum capacity with polyethylene sacks, suffered a spectacular accident on the road from El Carmen (Bolívar) to the neighbouring municipality of Plato (Magdalena), after its driver apparently lost control.
The spectacular accident occurred just 8 kilometers from reaching the toll booth, at a time when the tractor-trailer was traveling in the aforementioned direction and apparently its driver took the curve too fast and was unable to straighten it in time when it went sideways upon exiting the curve, ending up tilted next to the road separator.
It was learned that the driver of the truck loaded with industrial material did not suffer serious injuries, although due to the impact the vehicle suffered material damage in addition to the loss of the merchandise.
Fortunately, the vehicle only occupied one of the lanes in the El Carmen – Plato direction, so there was no congestion in the vehicular traffic on the Troncal de Los Contenedores.
After the accident, a large number of people began to arrive at the scene, mostly residents of the surrounding area, while others came from further away after being notified of what had happened. They, regardless of the arrival of the Traffic and Transport Police patrol cars, began to fill sacks with the spilled cargo and take them away with them, before the surprised and resigned gaze of the representatives of the transport company.
Remember that the heavy-duty vehicle was transporting polyethylene, an industrial material used to manufacture pressure pipes, as well as sewage and drainage pipes and cable protection.
While the tractor-trailer was looted by the community, the road authorities helped the driver, who was transported in an ambulance to a healthcare center, so that he could receive medical attention even though he stated that he had no injuries, during the overturning of the heavy cargo vehicle. that he commanded.
It was learned that he underwent a CT scan to rule out internal injuries to the skull and was placed under medical observation.
For their part, Highway personnel were present at the scene of the incident to expedite the investigations that will allow us to know the real circumstances of what happened, and although they tried to protect the cargo, the community and motorcyclists in the area vacated the car in a matter of minutes.
