The UNGA President stated that we are living in times of many challenges and stressed the intention of a very detailed and comprehensive exchange on additional measures that the UN must take in order to advance and execute significant actions in essential aspects such as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Cuba.

He added that this will also pave the way for the Summit of the Future, which will be held in September 2024.

The UNGA president stressed that he has high expectations for the visit and hopes for its complete success.

Referring to the attempted coup d’état in Bolivia that took place this Wednesday, Francis confirmed that the UNGA advocates unrestricted respect for democracy and stability.

Upon his arrival, Francis was welcomed by the acting director of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ana Silvia Rodríguez.
