Argentine companies participated in the International Seminar “Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities for Productivity in Ibero-America”, held by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) at the Industrial Club of Mexico City.

Present at the meeting were Daniel Herrero, President of Toyota Plan Argentina, José Urtubey, Director of Celulosa Argentina, and Roberto Antonio Contreras Masse, Expert of Globant, who made substantial contributions that were highly valued. They also held meetings with prominent local businessmen and women such as Altagracia Gómez, President of the group Promotora Empresarial de Occidente (PEO), Fernanda Guarro, CEO of 3M México, Ricardo Garza, Director of Innovation at Softtek, and Eliana Pérez Gaffney, Manager of Public Policy for Mexico at Meta.

The event brought together Mexican businessmen, representatives of the diplomatic corps, educational authorities, researchers, international organizations, foundations and various relevant actors at the Industrial Club to debate proposals regarding innovation, its relationship with productivity and economic growth in the countries of Ibero-America.

Along these lines, José Urtubey highlighted that the agenda of the Ibero-American Institute for Education and Productivity is valid in the region, where an alliance between the public and private sectors is sought, and that the OEI plays a strategic role as a cooperation organization .
Daniel Herrero, for his part, pointed out that for the automotive industry there is a link between governments, companies, higher education institutions and research centers, in order to move towards sustainable mobility, while Roberto Antonio Contreras Masse maintained that ” “Work is not at risk with artificial intelligence, but there is a transformation in the way we work.”

During the Seminar, answers and suggestions were given regarding questions such as the challenges to promote innovation in Ibero-American companies; how the region can benefit from the fruits of the technical progress of multinational firms and innovation in digital industries; how to foster a harmonious link between university research and the private sector to take advantage of the virtues that AI offers for productivity; and the role of the University in training its students to promote virtuous circles between AI and productivity.
