Ociel Ortiz, councilor of Yopal, spoke out against the recusal of which he was notified while he was in session at the Council premises. The recusal suggests that the councilor should declare himself impeded on the issue of legalization of the Alameda Marta Mojica and La Bendiciones projects. Ortiz expressed that the challenge is based on two reasons: being a resident of the Alameda sector and having alleged interests in the legalization processes of the aforementioned projects.
The councillor indicated that he was in the process of seeking legal advice to determine whether his status as a resident of the sector implies an impediment or an undue interest in his actions. He stated that the decision will be communicated once it has been made.
Ortiz said that his purpose is to defend the interests of the citizens of Yopal and that his work is focused on supporting vulnerable sectors. He stressed that his objective is to work in favor of the development of the municipality and that he will not be intimidated by the accusations.
The councillor said he did not know the complainant, Jaime Bernal Moreno, and expressed his interest in understanding the reasons behind the recusal. Ortiz suggested that the recusal could be motivated by the success of a recent meeting at Alameda Marta Mojica and considered that it could be a reprisal from his political opponents.
Ortiz said that his representation is based on his knowledge of the needs of vulnerable sectors and his commitment to defending their rights. He said that if it were proven that he has personal or family interests in the aforementioned projects, it would be the plaintiff who would have to provide the evidence.
The councillor stressed that he will continue in his role, defending the interests of citizens, and mentioned that other issues of importance for the municipality of Yopal will be addressed in the future.
Ociel Ortiz stressed his commitment to the representation of vulnerable sectors and to the development of the municipality of Yopal. He stated that he will not be silenced by his political opponents and that he will continue to work for the benefit of the community, ensuring that the recusal will not stop his work.
