Salomón Fernández Torres, alias ‘Salomón’, accused by the authorities of being one of the alleged leaders of the transnational crime organization Tren de Aragua, in Bogotá, was captured by the Police in the municipality of Aguazul (Casanare) on the afternoon of this Thursday.

According to the official report of the case, this is the same person who had managed to evade a raid by public forces against that gang in the Colombian capital last May, in which 27 members were arrested.

“The detainee had apparently been sent to Colombia by the top boss of that criminal organization, the fugitive alias ‘Niño Guerrero’, to lead this criminal group in Bogotá and Soacha, where he became responsible for drug trafficking, homicides, extortions, kidnappings and forced disappearances,” states the report delivered by the Police authorities.

In that May operation, ‘Salomón’ managed to evade the police cordon, but the authorities captured the area leaders alias ‘Ratón’, ‘Caracas’, ‘Viejo Daniel’, ‘Yefferson’, ‘Mini Pepsi’, ‘Osmer’, ‘Masacre’, ‘Orlando’, Manuel’, ‘Flay’, ‘Maicol’, ‘Yonaiker’, ‘Sanvicente’, ‘Oriana’, ‘Walner’ and ‘Zancudo’.

According to the police, ‘Salomón’ coordinated criminal networks in the towns of Kennedy, Bosa, Chapinero, Ciudad Bolívar and Rafael Uribe Uribe, with monthly earnings ranging between 2,000 and 3,000 million pesos.

He kept the merchants in these areas under pressure with extortion and if they did not pay, he sent his thugs to intimidate them. Sometimes they would shoot at the shop or throw grenades at it.

The Aragua Train, an organization from Venezuela, has active cells in Bogotá, Soacha, Cúcuta, Ipiales (Nariño) and Aguachica (Cesar). In some cases it is associated with local gangs, such as ‘Satanás’ in Bogotá and the ‘AK-47’ in Cúcuta.
