The Executive Branch declared a state of emergency in the district of Lonya Grande, in the Amazonian province of Utcubamba, due to the landslides that recently occurred in that town.
Supreme Decree 064-2024-PCM, published today in the Legal Standards section of the Official Gazette A Peruvian manestablishes that said state of emergency will last for 60 days.
In that period “immediate and necessary emergency measures and actions for response and rehabilitation” will be carried out.indicated.
This will be the responsibility of the Regional Government of Amazonas and the affected local governments included, in coordination with the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) and the participation of the Ministries of Health, Housing, Transportation, Interior, Defense, Energy and Mines, Women and Development and Social Inclusion.
“These actions must have a direct causal link between the interventions and the event, and may be modified according to the needs and security elements that arise during their execution, supported by the technical studies of the competent entities,” is indicated in the decree.
It also specifies which goods can be donated and which services can be provided free of charge in a circumstance like this. These are framed within the provisions of Article 11 of Law 30498, which promotes food donations and facilitates the transportation of donations in situations of natural disasters.
Antecedent
The declaration of emergency in the Lonya Grande district was requested by the regional government of Amazonas before Indeci on June 20 due to damage caused by a landslide in the El Porvenir neighborhood.
This has set up a level 4 emergencyaccording to the assessments made by Indeci in light of the parameters of the National Disaster Risk Management System.
