Within the framework of the Comprehensive Operational Management Impact Operations of Citizen Security, the investigative work team Crimes against Territorial Security Economic Heritage group, under the coordination of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office 6 of the city of Armenia, achieved the dismantling of the Criminal Group Organized Common ‘Los Rápidos’, for the crime of theft from automobiles, thus achieving 4 arrests by court order which were carried out in Armenia, Pereira and Dosquebradas in Risaralda, as well as 2 indictments of charges against people who are deprived of the freedom in prison establishments in the departments of Risaralda and Cauca.

With the dismantling of this criminal group, 12 vehicle thefts were solved, valued at approximately 560 million pesos. The identification systems (chassis, engine and license plate) were altered, they were marketed through informal raffles and sold in parts, this was done in different departments from where the theft was carried out.

Among those arrested are aliases: Flaco, Lucho, La Gorda and “El de la Silla de Ruedas”, who have criminal records in the Oral Accusatory Criminal System for crimes such as: homicide, negligent injuries, aggravated theft, drug trafficking, personal forgery and trademark forgery.

On the other hand, the accused were aliases ‘Peluche’ and ‘Papitas’.

Several of the vehicles delivered in recent days had been stolen by these individuals.

“In order to guarantee the safety and coexistence of citizens, the National Police in Quindío will continue to carry out operations and controls in order to prevent crimes that affect the safety of the inhabitants and visitors of the Coffee Region,” the authorities stated.
