This Friday it was learned that the Italian airline Neos He included Colombia on his list of destinations. From December 22, the Milan (Italy) – Cartagena (Colombia) flight will begin operating, with a price starting at 771 euros (3.2 million Colombian pesos).

By means of a letter addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Italian Embassy in Colombia reported on the arrival of this airline in the country.

“It is permitted to inform that the Italian airline Neos SpA was designated to execute passenger line services on the routes between Italy and Colombia. For this purpose, this embassy would greatly appreciate the information and transmission of the aforementioned designation to the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia and other possible entities for which this designation is relevant,” reads the letter dated June 21.

Through its social networks, the Civil Aviation He celebrated the aforementioned designation and said that he will proceed to materialize it.

President Gustavo Petro also joined this recognition, who shared the news on his X account.

Neos is an airline that operates 16 aircraft, all Boeing brand. For long-term flights it uses the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has a capacity for 355 passengers.

“Neos, an Italian airline part of Alpitour World, was founded in 2001 with the aim of offering the market high-quality air services, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards of operational reliability, both on board and on the ground. On March 7, 2002, we obtained the air operator certificate and the license to operate the transport of passengers and goods and began our air activity the following day, when we took off for Senegal with our first Boeing 737-800 I-NEOS “Ciudad di Milano”, departing from Milan Malpensa Airport, chosen as our reference hub. In October of the same year, we started scheduled connections and the flight network began to expand rapidly,” reads the website of this airline that began operating long-haul flights in 2004.

This, evidently, translates into positive news for tourism in Colombia, as it provides a direct connection between Italy and one of the country’s main destinations.

It should be remembered that one of the Government’s main bets in its economic plans has been tourism, with figures that have been increasing year after year in terms of travellers of other nationalities.
