Former FARC combatant murdered in Suárez, Cauca

In isolated events, there were recorded two homicides in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Suárez, in the north of the department of Cauca.

One of the cases is the murder of a demobilized FARC member Guzmán Esteban Pérez Castrowhose body appeared in the Caloto village of the road that connects the municipalities of Suárez and Buenos Aires.

According to the first reports of this case, this former FARC combatant was initially reported missing by his relatives since last weekend.

Later, and while the search was underway, the community of the Caloto village reported the discovery of the body of Guzmán Esteban Pérez Castrowho had participated in the demobilization process carried out in the Los Monos area of ​​the municipality of Caldono, between the years of 2016 and 2017.

This last fact was later reconfirmed by the members of the Institute for Development and Peace, Indepaz, by stating that they are 14 former members of that guerrilla group were killed during 2024in situations recorded in different parts of the country.

After the discovery, a local funeral home was responsible for removing the lifeless body from the area and transferring it to the headquarters of the Forensic Medicine of the neighboring municipality of Santander de Quilichao, where the case was already reported to officials of the Attorney General’s Office of the Nation.

Meanwhile, and according to the community, The other homicide occurred in the El Amparo village, where they found the body of a person approximately thirty years old, who was wearing military clothing.

In this case, the community was in charge of removing the lifeless body from the area and later transferring it to Forensic Medicine in Santander de Quilichao. At the moment the victim remains unidentified, authorities indicated.
