With the title “Capacity Development to Strengthen Security in Port and Maritime Activities”, the aim was to disseminate safe practices, thus guaranteeing a safer environment for all those involved in these activities in the sector.

On June 27, in Quintero, the Seminar “Capacity Building to Strengthen Security in Port and Maritime Activities” was held. This event was organized and led by the Regional Committee for Education and Dissemination of Security in Maritime Activities (COREDSAMAR), with the aim of improving security in port and maritime-related operations.

During the seminar, various presentations and workshops focused on best practices and security protocols were held. Experts in the field shared their knowledge and experiences, offering valuable training to attendees. The participation of those present allowed for an exchange of ideas and strategies that will contribute to raising security standards in the sector.

The Maritime Governor of Valparaíso, Captain Patricio Torres, highlighted the importance of collaboration between different entities and companies related to the port and maritime sector. “The synergy between these actors is crucial for the effective implementation of security measures, as well as for a rapid and coordinated response to possible emergencies,” he said.

Meanwhile, the mayor of the commune of Puchuncaví, said that “it is important to listen to the different actors who are raising the alarm about what is happening with climate change and the issue of storm surges, which involves all port activity and, of course, the entire community.”

Finally, the Sustainability Manager of Puerto Ventanas SA, Luis Fuentes, highlighted the possibility of addressing in depth the issues related to security in port activities. “This type of meeting allows us to learn about the state of the art, learn about practices and innovations, and incorporate them into this process of continuous improvement of safety in facilities.”

The seminar concluded with a renewed commitment on the part of all participants to continue working on the continuous improvement of security in port and maritime activities. COREDSAMAR reaffirmed its mission to educate and disseminate safe practices, thus guaranteeing a safer environment for all those involved in these activities.

The Regional Committee for Education and Dissemination of Safety in Maritime Activities, COREDSAMAR, aims to carry out training activities, seeking to reduce risks in the areas of the maritime port sector, as well as the promotion and dissemination of safety standards in risk prevention and occupational diseases to workers in this sector.
