Fireworks at Lake Cunningham Park in San José – NBC Bay Area

Residents of East San Jose will be able to enjoy a fireworks show for the first time this July 4th.

The organizers of this event explained that Lake Cunningham Park is the perfect place to carry out this spectacle.

“Our families from East San Jose always have to travel to downtown Almaden to see rockets. But for the first time we are going to have a fireworks show here in our neighborhood,” said Domingo Candelas, city councilman.

Candelas had to raise $50,000 to make this event happen. The park will be closed to traffic for safety reasons, so they recommend walking or riding a bike to get to the event.

“Of course. We have to leave the area for a long time, but we work hard. We want to celebrate the Fourth of July here in a healthy way in East San Jose, Lake Cunningham,” Candela said.

Another reason why Councilman Candelas promoted this event is to prevent fires and the illegal use of fireworks in the streets and parks.

“There is a lot of risk doing them at home, or in the park without the supervision of the firefighters. Hopefully this event will help us protect our communities,” said Candela.

Next year this event is expected to be bigger with more attractions for families.
