At the most prestigious coffee event in Europe, the World of Coffee, which this year takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Colombia has facilitated the participation of six coffee associations.

These organizations, made up of grassroots coffee growers, are promoting the best varieties of Colombian coffee, opening channels of commercialization and sharing production experiences with other international producers.

Coffee thanks to the families of Colombia

The Colombian associations present include the Cooperativa del Sur del Cauca, which brings together 1,455 small peasant, indigenous and Afro-descendant producers, and the Ecological Association of Peace Producers of Planadas, Tolima, with 289 producing families.

The Ecolsierra Network, made up of: 303 families of organic producers of 23 grassroots associations; the Cafesol Network, which brings together 37 associations, Asopep, made up of 214 producing families; and the Colombian Association for Coffee Excellence, made up of eight exporting companies.

“Colombia has cafes special and originaln that are a national pride and worthy representatives in competitions such as Copenhagen. It is one of our flagship products, and from the Government of Change we are betting on another century of coffee growing so that the bean remain a guest of honor to events like this,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jhenifer Mojica.

The World of Coffee Copenhagen (WCC), organized by the Specialty Coffee Association, is Europe’s leading trade fair for specialty coffees, bringing together thousands of coffee professionals and enthusiasts. The event has been celebrated since June 27, coinciding with National Coffee Day in Colombia, and will extend until Saturday June 29.

In this edition of the WCC, more than 80 competitors from all over the world will participate in the 2024 World Latte Art Championship, the World Coffee with Good Spirits Championship, the World Roasted Coffee Championship and the World Cezve/Ibrik Championship, a competition specific to a traditional coffee maker.

With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Colombian associations seek to highlight the quality and diversity of Colombian coffee, strengthening their presence in the international market and creating new opportunities for grassroots coffee growers.
