For more than a month, in the Third Oral Criminal Court of Santiago, the trial against the businessman was extended Rodrigo del Valleaccused by the Public Ministry as the alleged perpetrator of the femicide of the Brazilian model Nayara Vitwho according to the prosecuting agency was thrown from the balcony of the apartment she shared with the electronics engineer in Las Condes.

During this trial, which concluded with Del Valle acquitted, both the Prosecutor’s Office and the businessman’s defense presented a series of evidence so that the magistrates accepted their position at this procedural stage. In that sense, the Public Ministry presented plans, photographs and videos, among others. But to prove part of their argument, the prosecutors cited a series of audio recordings, including phone calls to emergency services, as well as recordings from the day of the incident.

The court found the evidence insufficient and the judge strongly questioned it during the reading of the verdict last Tuesday. Day in which the immediate release of the only person accused of the death of the model was decreedwho died on July 7, 2021.

Del Valle’s defense, and as it was also proven, maintained that Vit voluntarily jumped from the 12th floor of the Las Condes building. However, for the Prosecutor’s Office, the evidence and previous complaints of a fight showed that the telecommunications businessman had committed that.

To prove this theory, the Prosecutor’s Office cited a series of recordings of calls to emergency numbers on the night of July 7, specifically from neighbors who called from the area near where Vit and Del Valle lived. In the opinion of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, this confirmed the theory that prior to the model’s fall, the couple had had an argument, at which time the only defendant had thrown her.

It is precisely those records, to which La Tercera had access, that were exposed during the trial carried out in recent weeks. This proof was precisely revealed by the Prosecutor’s Office during the appearance at the trial of PDI inspector Rodrigo Pavezwho – it was explained – worked on this case and explained the nature of the calls made by neighbors. Procedures that were also reported in his appearance before the court by the deputy commissioner of the PDI Jose Rebolledowho explained the content of the communications collected by the municipal department.

This is a recording of three neighbours in the area, who initially reported an argument. In the last call recorded, a neighbour in the building told the Las Condes Security operator that from her building she could see a man crying on a balcony.

Listen to the recordings below:

In the opinion of the court, these calls in many cases did not meet the standard to link them to the argument that Del Villar had with Vit before the model died. The court even noted in the verdict that one of these complaints occurred at a time frame that was not related to the events.

Another of the records exposed by the Prosecutor’s Office during the trial was the call made by the janitor of the building where the couple lived. According to the background information, this worker would have been previously contacted by Vit and Del Valle’s home advisor, who told her what was happening in the department where she worked.

Given that, the janitor contacted – as did the neighbors – with Las Condes Security, indicating that a resident of the building had rushed from her apartment. In the call, the municipal official can also be heard saying that she had already received notices product of the same incident.

Listen to the recording below:

During the trial, Cristóbal Corrales, one of the Las Condes Security officials and who was one of the first to arrive at the apartment from where the Brazilian model fell, also testified as a witness.

While Corrales appeared, The Prosecutor’s Office showed the records of the body cameras of the municipal guards, in which they realized how Del Valle was.as well as the first proceedings.

In addition, these records also show the initial difficulties of the security officials to find the body of Nayara Vit, due to the darkness of the area. In this audio of that recording you can hear how the municipal guards talk, the radio communications, all accompanied by the crying of Del Valle, who constantly affirms “She threw herself, Nayara threw herself.”

On the other hand, and further into the recording, you can hear the municipal guard asking Del Valle if they were having an argument, something he initially denied. Thirddue to the length and unclear moments of that record, compiled the main extracts.

Listen to the recording below:

In the trial against Del Valle, during the appearance of Inspector Pavez, the interception of a call made by the Prosecutor’s Office against the businessman was also exposed. In this you can hear how the accused of femicide calls Oscar MandiolaNayara Vit’s coach and friend, to find out the tone of the questions he was asked when testifying as a witness in the case.

Listen to the recording below:

Along these lines, she also realizes the interception carried out on Rodrigo del Valle’s mother, who communicates with “Margarita” telling her that an anonymous person called her to warn her son that Mandiola would be near Del Valle. “out of interest.”

Given this, Margarita says that Del Valle knew of Mandiola’s supposed interest, but that he had told her that “We have to keep him as a friend until this issue is resolved and then goodbye.”
