Las Tunas.- With a massive inaugural parade along the central Vicente García Avenue, from the headquarters of the Central Workers of Cuba to the Plaza Martiana, site of the opening, the Cucalambeana Day was inaugurated in Las Tunas in its 57th edition, June 28 to July 2, 2024.

On the same morning, the prizes of the Landscape Salon and Decima Ilustrada were awarded, opened in the Guernica Gallery of the branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the territory.

The awards went to the plastic artists: Dainier Viamontes Pupo from the municipality of Puerto Padre, third place, Roberto Vázquez Hechavarria from Las Tunas, in second place, and the award went to Pedro Jesús Ávila Arias, also from Las Tunas, for the piece Landscape with palm, who also received the CITMA Collateral Prize.

«I feel very excited to have won the award and even more so because today is also my birthday and there is no better gift, after working for so many years. I have previously participated as a judge, but never in a competition and the first time I have done so, I have received an award.

The plastic artist Ávila Arias joins the group of creators who these days show their work in exhibitions that take place in various gallery spaces in the city, in tribute to the 195th anniversary of the birth of El Cucalambé.
