Eiver Fernando Alonso, secretary of Mobility of the city, said that began a contract for 300 million pesos to improve signage and traffic lights. In addition, he added that there are more than 12 thousand intersections, 112 traffic lights for pedestrians and 66 down counters and auditory signals.
However, Héctor Castañeda, a person with a disability in Manizales, He stated that they do not feel included by the administration and said that civic culture is lacking. “On the three main avenues there is not enough mobility for all of us to have a way of getting around, we have to put ourselves in the shoes of others and there are still ramps for us that are still blocked by vehicles,” he said.
The mayor’s office indicated that there are 13 pedestrian bridges, mainly on the Pan-American Highway and that there are nearly 700 kilometers of platforms throughout the city.
