“The Ministry (of Labor) promised to advance all the steps so that the bonus can be obtained at a given time, but given this legal impossibility and the current fiscal situation where there is austerity decreed by the national government, it is impossible to study the budgetary viability,” Ojeda said.

He also noted that “In the case of public employees, strikes are not provided for, they are prohibited in the substantive labor code”and complement, “When there is a cessation of activities, when the public employee does not perform his duties, there is no payment”.

The Attorney General’s Office urged that the cessation of activities end because they are seriously harming the rest of the country and said that many of those complaints that labor inspectors are responsible for resolving are being transferred to the Attorney General’s Office.

Finally, Jaramillo reaffirmed that he continues to maintain the political will to resolve labor and union conflicts, in accordance with the law, and the rights of workers..
