The province’s service stations have felt the effect of the economic recession in the country. Fuel sales fell in Tucumán by 10% on average during May, with an even greater drop in Premium gasoline of 25%.

According to data from the national Secretariat of Energy, which is already managed by the Chamber of Traders of Petroleum, Gas and Related Derivatives (Capega), in the fifth month of the year 39,097 cubic meters (m3) were shipped from the oil companies to the Tucumán dispensing companies. ), between gasoline and diesel. This represented a decrease of 10% year-on-year, since in May 2023 43,360 m3 had been sold.

Sharp drop in fuel sales, amid the economic recession

Shipments are directly related to what is sold to consumers at the stations. And if the type of fuel is considered, the largest volume of gasoline was sold in the provincial market, with 54% (21,253); while diesel represented 46% (17,844) during last May.

When distinguishing fuel types, there was a 6% drop in super gasoline (N2) compared to May 2023, and a 25% drop in premium gasoline (N3). In total, the drop was 9%.

At the same time, diesel (GO2) sales fell by 11% and Premium diesel (GO3) by 9%. In total, the decrease was 10%. This segment is associated with transport and the productive sector of Tucumán.

According to a study by the consultancy firm Politikon Chaco, fuel sales nationwide registered a fall of 8% in May, totaling 1.4 million cubic meters of gasoline and diesel. This figure was released in anticipation of a new increase in prices.

Thus, fuel marketing added six consecutive periods with negative results in Argentina.
