President Miguel Díaz-Canel visits the central province of Cuba

Díaz-Canel began his tour at the Sugar Cane Research Institute (Inica), where its director, Irenaldo Delgado, explained that they are diversifying the traditional objective of obtaining sugar cane varieties adapted to pests and diseases.

This is the only institution of the Azcuba sugar group that has a biofactory, which in addition to cane, produces banana vitroplants, flowers and protein plants, in conjunction with other research centers in the territory, including those of BioCubaFarma, reported the Vanguardia newspaper. of this province.

He also went to the Ramio Lavandero Cruz Cigar Company, an emblematic center of the municipality, belonging to the Tabacuba business group, which produces the Criollos, Populares and Titanes brands, its flagship label.

According to the director, María del Carmen Denis, the entity took advantage of a week-long stoppage due to breakdowns to undertake maintenance and sanitation actions, and will resume production of Populares cigarettes in the coming days.
