The Mayor’s Office of Ibagué and the Government of Tolima have prepared an academic agenda for the Colombian Folk Festival, offering free workshops at the Tolima Theater this Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29.

International cultural exchange

The events will feature the participation of prominent teachers from Bolivia and Mexico, who will share their knowledge and cultural traditions. The scheduled activities seek to promote the exchange of knowledge between the invited countries and departments, including Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and the Colombian regions of Cauca, Nariño, and Valle del Cauca.

Willington Arias, director of Culture of the department, highlighted the relevance of these workshops in promoting the understanding and appreciation of various folkloric traditions: «During this edition, we will have the participation of workshops from Bolivia and Mexico, presented by the International Folklore Festival. In addition, the Festival of Festivals, representing the regions of Cauca, Nariño and Valle, will enrich our programming.»

One of the most anticipated moments will be the didactic workshop of dances sung through children’s rounds, directed by guest artist Enkelé. Likewise, teacher Carlos Alberto Rodríguez Molina, noted for his work in the preservation of local traditions, will offer the workshop “Traditional Toliman Sound Practices and the Cultu Territorial challenge”, focused on the safeguarding of Toliman cultural identity.

Mauricio H. Cala, secretary of culture of Ibagué, extended an invitation to the entire community: «We are pleased to invite you to the great academic agenda that we have scheduled for June 28 and 29.either. Students, citizens, interested parties, artists of dance, music and all cultural expressions will be able to participate and learn about national and international culture and folklore.

All workshops and activities will take place at Teatro Tolima and are open to the public free of charge, providing an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural traditions of Colombia and beyond.
