The mayor of Colchane, Javier García Choque, announced that hewill send a letter to the Ministry of the Interior requesting an official explanation about whether the accusations issued by the Presidential Delegate, Daniel Quinteros, in a local media outlet, are due to a personal opinion or are the official position of the government.
In the statement, García Choque refutes Quinteros’ accusations on the alleged participation of the municipality in the promotion and facilitation of irregular transporthighlighting that the granting of passenger transport permits is an exclusive power of the Ministry of Transport.
Besides, The mayor categorically denies that medical attention has been denied to any Carabineros official, PDI or military personnel in the commune’s health centers. He assures that they have signed care agreements with the health systems of Carabineros and the Army to guarantee timely access to medical care.
Regarding the unfortunate death of the Bolivian citizen in a cell, García Choque points out that they have not received any formal request for a report from the Regional Presidential Delegation, but they did respond to an official letter from the Ministry of Health about the case, delivering a detailed report.
García Choque reiterated his commitment to working together with the government of President Gabriel Boric to address the migration crisis, highlighting the work they have done together with the Provincial Delegate, Camila Castillo. “She has held meetings with us, with neighbors and with the army to mediate the tensions that have arisen. Unfortunately, we have not had the same level of coordination with the Presidential Delegation.”
