THEY ASK NOT TO SUSPEND FLIGHTS TO VALLEDUPAR

Last update Jun 28, 2024

The lack of reliable and constant air service makes it very difficult for Valledupar to be an attractive destination for both businessmen and tourists.

Given the continuous cancellation of flights to Valledupar by the airline Avianca, without providing any clear and justified explanation, the Inter-Union Committee of the Department of Cesar (CIDC), expressed its concern about the repercussions that this situation has on connectivity, in the economic and tourist development of the region.

In this regard, CIDC President Hernán Felipe Araujo Ariza indicated that the lack of a reliable and constant air service makes it very difficult for Valledupar to be an attractive destination for both businessmen and tourists. This situation negatively affects the local economy, limiting business opportunities and the flow of visitors that energize various sectors of our city.

“We demand that Avianca publicly expose the underlying reasons that have led to the repeated cancellation of flights to Valledupar. Transparency in information is a fundamental right of passengers and an obligation of airlines, in accordance with national and international regulations,” said Araujo Ariza.

In addition, we call on the National Government to urgently enable the operation of the state airline SATENA on this route. “SATENA not only represents a travel alternative for citizens, but it would also generate the necessary competition to promote improvements in service and reductions in fares, directly benefiting passengers.”

The Inter-Union Committee of the Department of Cesar maintains that SATENA’s entry into the market could encourage balanced competition, a respectful service in line with the needs of travelers, thus guaranteeing greater frequency and reliability in its flights.

“We request an immediate and effective response to this situation that compromises the well-being and development of our region,” said Hernán Felipe Araujo.
