Barquisimeto.- THE TEAM Cuban mixed team will go in search of one of the three World Cup tickets that the I Pan American Baseball5 Tournament 2024, held at the Bolivarian Dome in this Venezuelan city, will pay tribute to.

The troop of the capital’s mentor Pablo Terry, holder of the world in the Mexico 2022 edition, showed its real value and using speed depending on the offensive –fused with a good defense– won both of its games on Thursday in its debut.

Both 2-0 victories against Mexico and Venezuela – the competition is held under a two-round round-robin system – enabled them to emerge as the only undefeated team out of the four participating in the tournament.

Furthermore, this gave them excellent numbers to qualify for the 2024 World Cup in Hong Kong, if as expected, they emerge victorious in their matches against Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The Puerto Rican mixed team is very inexperienced, they were only able to train for four months to make their historic international debut in this tournament, according to what they told HIT its technical director Efraín Williams.

Meanwhile, Mexico scored four runs against Cuba in the opening inning of the first set on Thursday. But then they failed to get home plate, neither in the three remaining innings – the game ended in the fourth by a 14-4 knockout – nor in the five innings of the second segment (3-0).
