Although there will be a slight decrease in rainfall in the province on Friday and Saturday, it is expected to increase again on Sunday, according to the assessments issued by the Meteorological Center (CMP) of Villa Clara.

The rainfall has favored the reservoirs, and as explained by the master’s degree Amaury Machado Montes de Oca, head of the Forecasting Group, between June 16 and 17 the province was at 9% of the accumulated rainfall for the month and is already reporting 75%. %.

The most significant rains occurred on the 22nd and 23rd with 139.6 mm in the Santa Clara dam, belonging to Manicaragua, and in recent days they were strong in Cifuentes, Sagua la Grande, Quemado de Güines and Corralillo.

In the Cifuentes town of Mata, 111.9 mm fell, and in the area of ”José María Pérez” (Camajuaní), 93.0 mm, so the night of Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 23 was the one in which it rained the most in the territory. This caused several rain gauges to exceed 80-90 millimeters, some even exceeding 100 mm.

Then the rainfall has continued towards the north-northwest of the territory, and also includes Encrucijada, Ranchuelo and Placetas, the latter, with more than 100 mm in areas of “Benito Juárez.”

“In contrast, this did not happen in the first half of June, a period in which Villa Clara was among the provinces with the lowest accumulated rainfall in the country, despite being the rainiest month in Cuba and at the same time in our territory, so the average of 202 mm should not be exceeded,” says Amaury Machado.

Temperatures also do not indicate significant records in the period as they do not exceed 36 eitherC, except for some isolated days; however, May recorded notable figures above 90% of the average and absolute records in the province throughout history.
