During June 25, 26 and 27, the Secretariat of Environment and Risk Management of Tolima participated in the full follow-up table to the ruling issued by the Supreme Court of Justice, STL 10716, through which the Park was declared Nevados National Natural Park as a subject of rights.
Acquired commitments
Over the past three days, the verification and monitoring of the commitments and compliance with this ruling was carried out, reaffirming the commitment of the Government of Tolima to the protection of the environment and life.
Santiago García, director of environmental affairs, said: “From the Ministry of Environment and Risk Management we remain committed to the defense of water and life, as our governor, Adriana Magali Matiz, has ordered.” Likewise, he highlighted the importance of the ruling: “The declaration of the Los Nevados National Natural Park as a subject of rights is a fundamental step to guarantee its preservation and the well-being of the communities that depend on it.”
The participation of the Government of Tolima in the plenary session was not limited only to monitoring the sentence, but also extended to the tourism table and the security table. These instances allowed us to address crucial issues such as the promotion of responsible ecotourism and the implementation of security measures to protect both visitors and the park’s ecosystem. The director of environmental affairs added: “Our participation in these roundtables seeks to strengthen conservation and sustainable development strategies in the region, ensuring that the Los Nevados National Natural Park remains a natural treasure for future generations.”
The Secretariat of Environment and Risk Management will continue to work hard to fulfill the commitments made and ensure the protection of this invaluable natural heritage, in line with the vision of Governor Adriana Magali Matiz to guarantee sustainable development and responsible environmental management in Tolima.
