“Direct flights will begin between Colombia and Italy,” President Gustavo Petro announced on June 28. The Civil Aeronautics then confirmed the arrival of the Italian airline Neos.
In a letter, the Italian Embassy notified the country that the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) had approved the designation of the company to provide regular passenger services.
“In this sense, Civil Aeronautics celebrates this designation and will proceed to materialize it,” said the authority.

Neos has already started selling tickets. For now, he will not travel between Bogotá and Rome, the capitals of both countries, but will do so Cartagena to Milan.
The direct flight will be on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a machine with the conditions for long-distance journeys.This aircraft has a capacity of 355 passengers, distributed as follows:
- 28 in Premium class.
- 327 in economy class.

The airline will begin operations in Colombia on December 22, 2024, according to its official website. It plans to make a weekly flight, every Sunday, that will take off from Cartagena’s Rafael Núñez International Airport at 6 p.m.
The journey will take nine hours and 40 minutes to Milan-Malpensa airport.
A flight for December 22 from Colombia costs around these prices:
- Economy class: from $1,543,902. Includes hand luggage of eight kilograms. The price of this class increases if the passenger carries checked baggage of 23 kilograms.
- Premium Class: from $3,679,559. It grants a better seat and, in addition, the passenger will be able to carry hand luggage of eight kilograms and up to two pieces of luggage in the hold for 30 kilograms.

From Milan to Cartagena, the flight for December 22 has higher prices. The economy class starts at $3,430,399, while the Premium, also called executive, starts at $7,212,292.
The fare also increases depending on the date. January 5, 2025, from Cartagena to Milan, has the highest prices.
Neos will join other international airlines that take off and land at Cartagena airport. For example, KLM makes a stopover in the coastal city on its journey from Bogotá to Amsterdam (Netherlands), as does Edelweiss for its journey between Bogotá and Zurich (Switzerland).
