The entity assured that when it was notified of the complaint it proceeded to internally investigate the case, as a result of which it made a decision: “The psychologist involved no longer works at our institution. and the corresponding complaint was made to the Prosecutor’s Office who will take the appropriate actions towards it.”

The IPS will reinforce its “professional conduct policies” and will conduct training for its staff “to prevent similar situations in the future,” he added in the statement.

“We strongly reject the child abuse suffered by Jennifer Paola, a minor with a disability, at the hands of her therapist,” the Mayor of Piedecuesta stated in a message on its X account.

The Administration, Family Police Station, Children and Adolescents Police and Municipal Persons’ Office activated a route to assist the minor and her parents. Among the actions, it was announced that the Ombudsman’s Office will advise them with a lawyer in the criminal process.

“The social team has begun verification of rights guarantees, and the path has also been initiated so that through the EPS, the minor and her parents can be immediately attended to,” stated Jaime Andrés Rodríguez, Family Commissioner.
