Rain forecasts shake San Pedro on Saturday

Throughout this Saturday, San Pedro’s Day is celebrated in Nájera, second in importance within the June festivities, after San Juan at the beginning of the week. The schedule is almost identical to that of the day of the 24th, but now fear is spreading due to the possible appearance of an unexpected guest: the rain.

Despite the good weather, with the exception of isolated storms, from days ago, today, Saturday, there are expected maximums of 21 degrees and minimums of 14, with a high possibility of precipitation, especially in the morning.

This worries the people of Najer, and was a topic of conversation among the people who yesterday, Friday, attended the event honoring the city’s clubs. With their minds on lunches, which are traditionally practiced outdoors from 10:00 a.m., there are some groups that have resigned themselves to not buying the typical roast beef. “Either you have a place under cover or in the rain to see where you make a fire,” commented a neighbor in the square yesterday. If the anxiety is strong in the face of lunches, it is even more notable thinking about the Vueltas.

Because at 12.30 they are expected to start at the kiosk on the Paseo San Julián and, following the traditional route, they will pass over the stone bridge and Calle Mayor until they finish in the square in the early afternoon. “Unless it rains a lot, the idea is to go out, we can never let down the people of Najer,” said a member of the musical group yesterday.

Whatever happens during the Vueltas, the sky is set to give a break afterwards with the passing of the rain. In the afternoon, there is a free tasting of zurracapote scheduled at the Peña Malpica at 3:30 p.m., another of chocolate with biscuits at 8:00 p.m. and, as the main event, a tribute concert to Rocío Jurado at 8:30 p.m. in the Plaza de España.
