The Passion of the Christ is a film directed and produced by Mel Gibson that was released in 2024 and tells the story of Jesus’ last 12 hours. During this time, his final moments are illustrated, including prayer on the Mount of Olives, the Last Supper, Judas’s betrayal, and his crucifixion.
The film was controversial and received hundreds of criticisms in the year of its release, firstly, because of the versions found from the perspective of various religions, and also because many considered it very violent and explicit, so much so that it was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain during its premiere. Other less radical opinions focused on highlighting the large number of production details with which the film was recorded, and on the performance of the performers that allowed, among other things, reflection and shock on the part of the spectators.

The film stars Jim Caviezel, who plays Jesus. The actor born in the United States worked on this production when he was 33 years old and to record the film he had to learn Aramaic, Hebrew and Latin, as this was one of the director’s requests. The actor, who is now 55 years old, has also participated in other renowned productions such as “Outlander”, “Sounds of Freedom”, “Person of Interest”, among others.

Maia Morgenstern was the one who gave life to Maria in the film. The Romanian actress, now 61 years old, is also known for her roles in “The Oak,” “The Look of Ulysses,” “15″, among others.
