With an innovative premise, Smile (smile), the adaptation of the short film Parker Finn, Laura Hasn’t Sleptmanaged to position itself as great surprises within horror cinema in 2022. Initially developed with a budget of 17 million and intended as a production that would debut on the screen of Paramount+initial screenings allowed it to make the jump to movie theaters and the warm reception from the public made it a global box office success.

This, in turn, assured its director a future contract with the studio and cemented the possibility of a sequel. Now details related to the plot of this second film are beginning to emerge. One year after the announcement of smile 2last week it was screened in the CinemaCon an exclusive first preview that confirms the protagonist of this installment.

According to the testimonies of the media present, this teaser focused on the character played by Naomi Scott (Aladdin), a pop star whose glamorous world is about to turn into a real nightmare. The footage showed the celebrity getting a major scare when a man played by Lukas Gage (The White Lotus) bursts into his dressing room with a creepy smile. From that point on, everything begins to fall apart around her.

Unfortunately, the clip has not yet been officially presented by paramount to the general public, but taking into account that the sequel will be released this year, it is likely that the first official images will be known shortly.

Smile marked the directorial debut of a feature film for Finn. The plot of the first film followed Rose, a therapist who receives a particularly hot-headed patient in her office. She tells him a story about an evil presence that manifests itself through a disturbing smile on the people around her, ensuring that something bad is going to happen to her. As expected, nothing good comes of that encounter and all hell breaks loose around Rose and those close to her.

Since principal photography is already completed, paramount agreed to launch smile 2 for October 18, 2024, just in time for Halloween.
