The original is Jurassic Park, directed by Spielberg in 1993, which would be followed by two sequels before the franchise was rebooted in 2015 as Jurassic World. With the Indominus rex on screen, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was generated. It was before bringing back the original cast of Jurassic Park to star alongside the Jurassic World actors in the so far last dinosaur movie: Jurassic World: Dominion.

Universal Pictures has announced that a new installment of the Jurassic World franchise will be released on July 2, 2025.

David Koepp, who played a crucial role in the scripts of the first Jurassic Park productions, will be in charge of writing this new chapter in the saga. The film will enter production under the expert eye of Steven Spielberg, who will serve as executive producer through his company Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are also on board as producers, while Leitch and Kelly McCormick will contribute to this phase through their company, 87North.

The story is based on the novels by Michael Crichton. Jurassic World has three installments so far and the one that was just announced for release in 2025 would be the fourth in the saga.

In 2022 the last installment was released under the name Jurassic World: Dominion. This installment completes the saga, uniting the characters of both franchises in a context where dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans around the world. The plot explores the global implications of this new coexistence between humans and dinosaurs. The already well-known Pratt and Howars were joined by the Jurassic Park actors, Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill who returned as Alan Grant, and Jeff Goldblum in the role of Ian Malcolm.
