20th Century Fox is already set to make a remake of The maze runnerthe trilogy of novels by James Dashner that Wes Ball made into a film over the past decade.
The maze runnerone of the youth dystopias most popular in recent years, is about to return to our screens with much of the team that made the film trilogy possible based on the work of James Dashner during the past decade.
James Dashner published the first book of The maze runner (The Maze Runner) in 2009, its sequel, The Scorch Trialsin 2010 and the third installment, The Death Curein 2011.
Thanks to contemporary successes such as The Hunger Gamesthe public demanded this type of stories, so the three adventures of Thomas and company did not take long to hit theaters – in 2014, 2015 and 2018 respectively -, produced by 20th Century Fox and with Wes Ball as director.
The Maze Runner returns with Wes Ball
Now, ten years after the release of the first film The maze runner, 20th Century Fox starts up again a reboot of the franchise in which he will be involved again Wesball.
Although this time the filmmaker will return as producer, along with Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman of Gotham Group and Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill, who already produced the original trilogy.
The idea is that Jack Paglen is in charge of writing the script for the new version of The maze runnerafter having participated as a scriptwriter in the films: Transcendence (2014), starring Johnny Depp, and Alien: Covenant (2017) by Ridley Scott.
It is also expected that the reboot of The maze runner It is not a new version of the events that we already know nor a sequel, but rather a story in which the universe created by James Dashner is expanded, something like what has happened in the latest films of Planet of the Apes.
