The new Netflix movie ‘The bride’s mother‘It’s something like that, only with Brooke Shields as protagonist and it’s going to be one of the most viewed movies on Netflix in May. And we will not be mistaken that it will be a standout among the Netflix movies of 2024.
Brooke Shields, spectacular at 58 years old, the protagonist and is also one of the executive producers of the film, is a delight in the role of Lana, a successful pioneer of genetic research, who is surprised to discover that her daughter Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) returns from an internship in London engaged to RJ (Sean Teale). Emma is not going to get a job or go to graduate school. In her place, she will continue with the lifestyle instagram account which started when she was a first-year college student. Now Discovery Resorts (the parent company of Anantara Resorts, naturally) is offering him a six-figure sponsorship to promote her brand on her Instagram account.
Despite Lana’s doubts about whether being a social media influencer is a real career option, she wants to appear open-minded and goes ahead with this sudden development, leaving for Thailand. “I am a person who does not judge anyone” she tells her daughter about RJ. Everything is going well until Will (Benjamin Bratt), RJ’s father, arrives. It turns out that Lana and Will had a great romance in college until Will unceremoniously broke Lana’s heart. “You better open your eyes because you’re literally about to marry the son of Satan,” she tells Emma.
If all of this sounds a lot like George Clooney and Julia Roberts’ 2022 film, ‘Journey to Heaven’, you’re not wrong. In that film, which also involved a young woman quickly marrying someone her parents didn’t know in a beautiful, lavish place, the parents despised each other and banded together to try to separate the couple. Here Lana just wants to make sure her daughter is happy and makes the right decision.while Will just wants to lean on his sexy, laid-back charm.
Where to watch ‘The Mother of the Bride’ and why it will be the most viewed movie
Since Thursday, May 9, ‘The Bride’s Mother’ is available to watch on Netflix, where this weekend it will become the most viewed on the platform. But despite being a refreshing and fun comedy, also has its negative points. Misunderstandings abound in this comedy of errors. Silly physical falls take up a lot of screen time.
