Although Furiosa: From the Mad saga Max was shaping up to be one of the big releases of May, especially after the positive reception from specialized critics, the theatrical debut was somewhat tarnished with results that were quite discreet for so much expectation.
The movie starring Anya Taylor-Joy has been liked, but it has encountered an atypical year at the box office for a significant number of films that promised better results than what they are achieving.

Even so, George Miller has many fans eager to see his stories set in the desolate post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Mad Max saga, and among them is one George RR Martin, author of Song of ice and firethe series that inspires Game of Thrones.

George RR Martin prefers classic movies Mad Max
The American writer admitted that, despite the spectacular nature of the immense budget of Furiosa: From the Mad Max saga allows action sequences, movie does not end up dazzling you as much as the two original sequels starring Mel Gibson: Mad Max: The Road Warrior and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
“Miller had a much bigger budget this time. I think the original Mad Max movie was made from loose change he found in his couch cushions. Furiosa probably cost more than the first four movies combined. Given its structure, it could easily be five feature films or perhaps three seasons of a television series.
I liked Anya Taylor-Joy, who played Furiosa this time. The girl who played Furiosa as a child does well too. I also liked Tom Burke (Praetorian Jack) and Chris Hemsworth as Dementus… and the Citadel is a great set, although it was used with more impact in road rage.
Overall, though, The Road Warrior is still my favorite Mad Max movie. Furiosa and Fury Road had their merits, but I would rank them below Mel Gibson’s second and third films.
The new ones are bigger and more expensive, and the action scenes are huge, but the world building, supporting characters, and stories can’t compare“.
Furiosa: From the Mad Max saga It has grossed $144.4 million at the box office worldwide, well below expectations for a film of this nature. Maybe when it comes to streaming it will have better luck. Meanwhile, George RR Martin will premiere season 2 of the dragon house on Max next week, while he keeps us waiting with The Winds of Winter.
