‘In the depths of the Seine’, a shark movie that has surprised Netflix subscribers

Just a few months before the Paris Olympic Games are held, Netflix has released In the depths of the Seinea horror film that takes the river of the Parisian capital as its setting to carry out a fictitious Triathlon World Cup that will cause serious problems.

The film directed by Xavier Gens presents the story of Sophia, a marine scientist who has dedicated much of her life to the study of species such as sharks. On one of her exploration trips near Hawaii, the expert lost her husband and some of her companions due to strange behavior in some sharks she had recorded.

Three years after the terrible accident, the presence of a shark in the Seine River makes Sophia join a group of expert marine police to try to stop the aforementioned sports competition, since the mayor does not want to cancel the event in any way.

The determination of the main characters, the frenetic pace of the film and the feeling of adrenaline and scare present in this type of shark movies have made many viewers comment on the plot on social networks.

”I have seen the movie In the depths of the Seine and honestly it’s a normal movie, but the last 45 minutes are amazing”, ”Absurd plot, but enjoyable”, ”A shark creating panic in Paris and doing its thing in the Seine River sounds great” or ”It’s now my second favorite shark movie after Megalodon” are some of the comments that can be read on X.

The apotheotic ending works as a finishing touch to close the film, a film without many pretensions that will fulfill its mission without problems on the platform of streaming: entertain millions of people around the world.

An interesting plot and an exceptional cast

The different discoveries that the scientist makes, as well as the different ways of approaching the shark problem (even from within the position of wanting to save it), make the film a more than interesting project.

It should also be noted that the protagonist, Bérénice Bejo, acts very naturally and that the rest of the cast (Anne Marivin, Nassim Si Ahmed, Aurélia Petit, Anaïs Parello, Iñaki Lartigue, etc.) also does a more than decent job. As for the special effects and characterization, it seems that the audience has approved the film, since it currently leads the ranking of the most viewed on the platform in Spain.
