Officially, the countdown to the premiere of MaXXXine in movie theater. The film, which is part of the horror trilogy of Ti West, It started with X and continued with Pearl. For this third (and final) part, expectations have grown, thanks to the luxury cast that includes our beloved Lily Collins.
The three films, which are produced by A24focus on two main characters: Maxine “Max” Minx and Pearl, both played by the actress, Mia Goth.
How are Maxxxine, Pearl and X connected?
As we know from X, the elderly Pearl enjoys watching sermons preached by Maxine’s father, which connects the other two characters. While Maxine dreams of being loved, Pearl seeks adoration on a more intimate level. Although it may seem like they are both looking for totally different things, her desires are intertwined.
Pearl laments youth and her lost attractiveness, and Maxine shows fear that the same thing will happen to her. Let’s say that the two characters are reflections of each other.
What is MaXXXine about?
As its title “XXX” suggests, the story takes place in an underground adult film environment. Set in Hollywood in the 80s, it tells the life of an aspiring actress, Maxine Minx who finally gets his big chance to succeed. Everything gets complicated when a mysterious killer who stalks the stars threatens to reveal his sinister past.
As in X and Pearl, in MaXXXine the elements of blood and sex predominate.

“MaXXXine as part of a trilogy is infinitely more interesting, so that was part of the overall concept,” commented Ti West during an interview with Collider. “The fun thing is that it’s an evolution of her character, in the same way that you start to get to know Pearl in X, but then you get to know a different side of her. Yes, you know Maxine, but she is at a very different point in her life now. It will be interesting to catch up with her when we do and see Mia Goth in another way,” he added.

The first look of the film begins with a fake trailer for an exploitation film with nuns called The Puritan II, and then introduce Maxine Minx looking behind the scenes on set as she seeks to make her way in Hollywood. Little by little, her path to stardom is frustrated not only because she will have a private investigator and the police on her tail, but also a serial killer.
