According to the boss of Marvel Studios, ‘The Fantastic Four’ will take place in an alternative New York from the sixties
That this year the superhero movies are going to reach us in dribs and drabs, giving us a well-deserved and necessary rest, does not mean that the big studios have stopped or have any intention of putting the brakes on their pajama machinery. It was during a conversation on The Official Marvel Podcast, where Feige confirmed what the first artowrks that we were able to see suggested: the new adventure of the cosmic family will be set in New York in the 60s. But be careful, because it may not be the Big Apple we’re used to and we would play once again with the concept of the Multiverse.
“There was another artwork we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making the shape of a 4, and there was a cityscape in the corner of that image. A lot of smart people noticed that that landscape didn’t exactly look like the New York we know, or to the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. I will say that they are intelligent observations.
After his experience in ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’, director Matt Shakman has once again opted for retro, but this does not mean that this will be the only claim of the film. Without going any further, the actor Joseph Quinn, who will play Johnny Storm, gave flowers to the production speaking with Entertainment Weekly, defending the idea that the human component is above all in a film of this type.
“We want to do it right with the Fantastic Four story. There are aspects that are very different from other Marvel movies. I found it very appealing. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt [Shakman]Of course, the director, I think, is brilliant, and the cast, and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I am delighted to have this opportunity. Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re interested in people and characters and danger and spectacle, then that’s why people go to the movies to see movies.”
‘Fantastic Four’, directed by Matt Shakman and starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular quartet, as well as Ralph Ineson, Natasha Lyonne and Julia Garner, will arrive in theaters on July 25, 2025. Filming will begin at the end of 2024.
