A horror movie and an action comedy accompany the animations

In a week dominated by the permanence of “Inside Out 2” and “Despicable Me 4” (which are expected to be on until after the winter holidays), two new releases partially renew the schedule of San Luis movie theaters. The terror of “The Exorcism” —which will be seen in theaters in San Luis and Villa Mercedes— and the action of “Complices of Deception” —an exclusive premiere for Cinemacenter— will bring some reality to the animations.

The main feature of the scare film is that it stars Russell Crowe, a first-class actor, Oscar winner, who is not accustomed to productions of the genre, although he has the immediate antecedent of his participation in the successful “The Exorcism.” of the Pope”. It is known that horror tends to be very specific with the protagonists of the stories, so the presence of the “Gladiator” actor in the film is quite an event.

The production is coming several years late compared to filming, due to the lack of clarity between director Joshua John Miller and the studios that own the rights regarding whether to release it in theaters or directly on streaming.

That aside, “The Exorcism” has elements of meta-cinema and tells the story of a mentally challenged actor who begins to lose his bearings while filming a natural horror movie. As his behavior raises red flags, his daughter begins to wonder if he is returning to his addictions or if there is something more sinister at play.

The other proposal in local theaters is the return of Richard Linklater, the renowned director of the trilogy “Before Sunrise” and “Boyhood,” who presents an action comedy that tells the story of an agent recruited for an undercover mission in which he must pretend to be a hitman and catch high-profile criminals.

As he delves into a dangerous double life, the protagonist faces moral dilemmas and unexpected dangers, all while doing his best to maintain a facade of normality in his everyday life.

When he decides to help a woman trying to escape from her violent partner, the undercover agent’s actions and feelings will take on a new dimension.

“Accomplices to Deception”, the new one by Richard Linklater.
