After the commercial failure of The Last Knight, the foundations of a new universe were sought to be laid, but the film never seemed to make it very clear.

Editor – Film and TV

I am the boy who will tell you all the latest news in film and television in 3DJuegos. I am passionate about science fiction, fantasy, superheroes and movie curiosities, those little behind-the-scenes stories of the directors and actors we have been following since we were little. My favorite saga? Star Trek. My favorite character? Superman, although lately a little more John Wick. One last thing, I promise not to bore you too much in my topics. LinkedIn

Very few could have assured in 2007, when Michael Bay directed the first of Transformersthat this colossal and destructive science fiction action saga would be able to stay on the big screen for almost two decades. But here we are, preparing for the autumn release of Transformers One this coming September, and with the memory of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts still fresh in our minds, but today I want to stop a little earlier, at Bumblebee.

Spoiler alert. In this topic I talk very, very briefly about aspects of the Bumblebee plot that clash with the Transformers saga.

The best live-action Transformers movie

And I stop here for two reasons. The first, because you can watch it completely free and without ads today on TVE’s La 1; and second, because it is a really special feature film in This franchise earned $5.285 billion in theaters. For example, for users of Filmaffinity It is the highest rated live-action of the entire saga, and we have seen a few. It was also the first adaptation not to be directed by Michael Bay and, in addition, it was also the cheapest to makewith an investment of less than 130 million dollars.

And while Michael Bay had managed to make Transformers a money-making machine capable of rivaling Marvel Studios at its peak, his last foray as a filmmaker into the series, Transformers: The Last Knight, didn’t work out all that well and caused its producers to want to try something new with Bumblebee. That film was already in the works, and was going to be a spin-off/prequel with a much more modest budget, but it ended up being a “reboot”.

Yes, in quotes, because not even its producers agree with what it is. We can affirm, without fear of being wrong, that Bumblebee certainly wanted to be a prequel and lay the foundations for a new type of approach to the saga in cinemas, also becoming the first movie in chronological order of this. He did it by narrating a story of origins where the yellow Autobot is sent to Earth in the 1980s, years before the original film, and, badly bruised, must be helped by a young woman to face a threat.

A film that clashes with Michael Bay’s films

Its year of setting already presented conflicting points in the series but, of course, once you start watching the film you find inconsistencies here and there. For example, Sector Seven seems to be completely unaware of the Decepticons in the movie, and if that weren’t enough, There is a final scene that clashes head-on with TransformersThere are also the aesthetic differences in the presentation of the Transformers. Changes here and there that confused the older fans, but that their director justifies by wanting to seek new audiences above all else:

“We did not want alienate the audience with too much mythology“I wanted everyone to be able to watch this movie and understand it, like it and enjoy it. I didn’t want to assume any familiarity with the franchise.” Via Digital Spy

And it was successful. Bumblebee is a very independent, good-hearted story that I would recommend to anyone making their first foray into the saga. But the problem remained there, and many viewers began to wonder if all the flashbacks we saw throughout 65 million years did they happen, or did this reboot cancel everything out? And we remember that, throughout his different films, Michael Bay took us from the extinction of the dinosaurs to the Apollo missions, passing through 17,000 BC and the times of King Arthur and Merlin. Did all that exist?

Where to watch Bumblebee on TV

I leave the answer to all of you. Bumblebee can be enjoyed today, June 28, starting at 10:00 p.m. (peninsular time) on La 1 de TVE. It is expected that the film will then remain available for a few days on the RTVE Play app. In addition, Bumblebee can be watched whenever you want from the SkyShowtime catalog. Is an entertaining movieand without a doubt an enjoyment for a Friday night.
